I am a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)registered counsellor. I am also registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office). I store your information inline with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) guidelines.

How I use your data?

The Counselling Contract
The signed contract is your explicit consent to me using your data. It is a necessary agreement in our proceeding to work together. Without your informed consent we will not be able to proceed.
What data do I collect?
I collect your contact information; name, address, email and telephone. Emergency contact details and your g.p. details. Medication and medical conditions. Brief handwritten notes on our sessions.
What do I use it for?
To contact you to make appointments. To contact your emergency contact/g.p. if you became unwell during our session.
Please beware there are exceptions to confidentiality; these exceptions are any disclosure of information related to terrorism, money laundering and safeguarding child/vulnerable adult issues. Or if I considered you to be at risk of harm to yourself or another person. I would preferably only do this after consultation with you first.
To meet the BACP requirements of attending supervision with a BACP accredited supervisor to discuss and review my clinical work however this is done anonymously; you are not identified.
How do I store your information?
Your contact details and notes are security coded, stored separately in a locked cabinet or on encrypted and password protected devices.
How you can get access to it?
You are entitled to request a copy of any information I hold about you. I will endeavour to meet or consider this request within one month.
You have the right to request a change or deletion to any information that is incorrect.
How do I dispose of your information?
I retain your notes for 6 years in line with my insurance policy. I will delete/shred your contact details after a period of 6 months after completing our work together.

Please be aware I will not share, sell or use any of your details for unethical purposes. However, there are exceptions to the sharing of notes and that condition would be if my notes were to be subpoenaed by a court of law or to represent myself.
This does not include website hosting partners who assist in operating this website.
If you decide not to proceed with counselling after any enquiry of contact, I will ensure all your personal data is deleted within 14 days.

This privacy policy was last updated on 20th November, 2020. I reserve the right to change it at anytime.
Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on this website. You will have deemed to have accepted any changes to the terms of the privacy policy when visiting the website.
